FIRST AID AT WORK REFRESHER (HSE approved course)

Maximum 6 trainees

This refresher course provides you with an opportunity to practise and update your skills at any time during your three year period as a qualified first aider.

The HSE strongly recommends that you attend a refresher session once every year during this three year period.

Who should attend?

This course is for people holding a current First aid at work or Emergency first aid at work certificate.

What you will learn

This session builds on your expertise and confidence by involving you in realistic situations with simulated casualties. Candidates will practise first aid in practical, hands-on scenario sessions.

  • Treatment of an unconscious casualty
  • Heart attacks
  • Resuscitation
  • Shock
  • Choking
  • Bleeding
  • Burns and scalds
  • Poisoning
  • Fractures
  • Seizures
  • Asthma
  • Severe allergic reaction
  • Eye injuries
  • Low blood sugar
  • Fainting.

Course duration is 2 days

Assessment and certification

After completing a final assessment successful candidates receive an HSE approved certificate valid for three years.

This course is legally compliant with the current Health and Safety (first aid) Regulations 1981. Upon successful completion of this three day course, first aiders receive certification to allow them to practise for three years after which a re-qualification course becomes necessary. It is strongly recommended that you update your skills by taking an annual refresher. HSE Guide
